Heartland Queens completed a flawless group stage performance in the 2024 Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament BOWFT, winning all matches without conceding a goal. In their final group game on Thursday, the Owerri based team narrowly defeated Aigle Royal d’Adjara from Benin Republic with a 1-0 victory, thanks to a second half goal by top James.
Having previously secured wins over Fortress Ladies and Delta Babes, Heartland Queens topped the group with a total of six goals scored. Emmanuella James was instrumental, contributing three goals throughout the group stage. With nine points from three games, the team advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Espoir FC of Benin Republic on October 12 at Western Boys High School in Benin City.
As one of the foundation teams of this annual preseason competition, Heartland Queens aim to maintain their unbeaten form as they enter the knockout rounds.
